The Veteran Day Argument

Veterans Day is the day the United States for their tribute to everyone who has served in the armed forces. This feast takes place each year on November 11, the days of the end of the First World War.

Veterans Day is largely intended to living veterans thanks for services rendered, to show their commitment by the United States is valued and to emphasize that not only deceased soldiers, but also living things have had to sacrifice and have done their duty.

History

Woodrow Wilson argued in 1919 Armistice Day in at the end of World War I to recall and 30 states made it a legal holiday. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 inviting all Americans had come to watch and made it a national holiday in 1938, each year on November 11 would be held.

Decided in 1953 Emporia, Kansas, during a commemoration of Armistice Day that year. Member of Congress for Emporia, Ed Rees, tried repeatedly law by the House of Representatives to get the name of Veterans Day should change. Eventually changed its name on June 1, 1954 to Veterans Day.

When all holidays except New Year's Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Independence Day were moved to Monday to ensure an extra long weekend, was moved Veterans Day to the fourth Monday of October. After protests by veterans groups, the feast day back moved to November 11, primarily to the day more attractive.

The opposite was true. Only banks and government agencies in most states still closed on that day. Schools and businesses tend to stay open, resulting in lack of adequate public transport timetables carries.
